The jack-in-the-pulpit is a plant native to South Carolina and is found in moist mature woodlands. This photo was taken on Friends of the Reedy River property within the city limits of Greenville in an urban forest that's now protected. The plant is not on the rare/endangered list, but it is very unusual to see in an urban setting. Thanks to members of the local chapter of the SC Native Plant Society we are also attempting to introduce and re-establish native plants on several parcels of river front property.
The mission of the Friends of the Reedy River is to to promote a sustainable balance of the Reedy River’s environmental, economic, and social value as a unique and historical natural resource.
