Katie Callahan serves as the Director of the Clemson University Center for Watershed Excellence, an EPA and SC DHEC recognized center for watershed management and watershed outreach activities. For more than eight years, Katie served as the program coordinator for the Clemson Extension Carolina Clear program, reaching millions of SC residents annually with stormwater outreach and pollution prevention programming.
Katie has held multiple positions and roles at Clemson University since 2008, all related to water resources outreach and education, program development and implementation, and team building. She holds a B.S. in Marine Science – Chemical and Physical Oceanography and an M.S. in Environmental Science. She has more than 16 years of experience in surface water monitoring, monitoring plan development, and watershed assessment. She has co-authored numerous watershed management plans, utilized microbial source tracking to prioritize bacteria reduction strategies for waterways, directs environmental education programming and communication methods, and co-leads the SC Adopt-a-Stream program with SC DHEC. She enjoys being a Mom, molding this next generation of conservationists through rich outdoor experiences, especially on the water!
