Zach Keung, Water Science Intern
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Zach spent much of his childhood exploring his backyard ecosystem, building campfires with his grandpa, and backpacking along the AT. In high school, Zach played varsity lacrosse, was an active member of his local Boy Scout troop, and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Zach's passion for environmental advocacy led him to the University of Georgia where he recently graduated from the Odum School of Ecology with a BA in Ecology and a certificate in Water Resources.
Zach's professional experience in environmental science and outreach includes working with the UGA River Basin Center, the UGA Office of Sustainability, the Athens-Clarke County Office of Sustainability, and Glisson Camp and Retreat Center. Currently, Zach is beginning a 10-week internship with Friends of the Reedy River focusing on riparian buffer zone restoration, streambank erosion mitigation projects, and Adopt-A-Stream water quality monitoring. After completion of this internship, Zach will return to his hometown of Atlanta, GA to start graduate school at Georgia Tech in the Fall.
In Zach’s free time, he loves playing the drums and all kinds of music. He also loves camping in the North Georgia mountains and is an avid Atlanta sports fan.
