The canoe is made from cypress planks over white oak frames and the deck is cherry. The design dates back to Native American river canoes. English explorers liked the shape and function then took the style back to England where they added a deck to keep the cold English water from splashing in the boat. Harry Bryan is a Canadian designer that further adapted the design.
