DESCRIPTION:
Update: This event has been cancelled due to inclement weather. We hope to see you at our Rain Garden Planting event on March 14.&nbsp\;

Friends of the Reedy River is holding another&nbsp\;Invasive Plant Pull at the Cleveland Park Stables Rain Gardens&nbsp\;on&nbsp\;Friday\, March 1 from 8:30 - 11:30am!&nbsp\;

After this event\, we will be ready to install 200 new plants in mid-March!&nbsp\;We will teach volunteers about the importance of rain gardens\, riparian buffer zones\, native plants\, and proper identification and removal of invasive plant species - specifically hand-pulling invasive plant species and small saplings.&nbsp\;

Our focus area will be the rain gardens at Cleveland Park Stables. We will help volunteers correctly identify desirable versus undesirable vegetation\, making this a&nbsp\;great opportunity for all experience levels!

Rain gardens\, or bioretention areas\, are shallow landscaped depressions designed to collect\, temporarily store\, filter\, and infiltrate stormwater runoff from developed sites. They help protect streams and rivers by improving stormwater quality and by mimicking natural hydrology to help reduce runoff\, channel erosion\, and flooding. The rain gardens in the Stables area of Cleveland Park need the non-native invasive plant species removed to ensure they are able to perform properly and stay functional and beautiful for years to come.&nbsp\;

Please come prepared to get dirty -- long pants &amp\; closed toe shoes are strongly recommended. Please bring a water bottle\, sun protection or rain gear\, gardening gloves if you have them\, and any other supplies you will need to feel comfortable in a group outdoors. All other supplies and tools will be provided.&nbsp\;

Thank you for your interest in supporting Friends of the Reedy River! We look forward to seeing you soon!&nbsp\; &nbsp\;

Please look for an email from FORR a few days before the event that contains information on where to park and what to expect. This email will also include a link to fill out waivers.&nbsp\;
