Our Fall 2018 Reedy RiverSweep is just around the corner! Join us for a fun-filled day of cleaning the Reedy and its riverbanks in honor of our 25th Anniversary Year. This is looking to be our biggest clean-up to date: will you help us reach this goal?
To sign up for the event, please fill out the following short Google form: https://goo.gl/forms/7mCJrHbmo7CwUcgH2.
We'll be having our 2018 Fall Reedy Riversweep this Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8-noon!
Our volunteers' safety is paramount, and we continue to keep a watchful eye on the weather forecast. The Saturday morning forecast calls for overcast skies with moderate winds. If we perceive any dangerous river conditions, we'll stay out of the water and focus our efforts on picking up trash from and around the river and removing non-native, invasive plants from the riverbanks.
If dangerous high winds or a severe downpour occurs, we'll cancel the clean-up and notify by social media.
Please check our social media accounts for more updates. Don't forget to use the hashtags #riversweep18 and #loveourreedy when you post your pictures online!
1. Primary Check in location for City of Greenville work: St. Matthew United Methodist Church (701 Cleveland St).
2. Secondary Check in location for Cedar Lane Rd. site: Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery (205 Cedar Lane Rd). As parking is limited at the Cafe, please park across the river in the lower lot of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church (115 Cedar Lane Rd).
At check in you will be asked to sign 2 waivers; we encourage participants to please fill out these waivers (sent via email by Friends of the Reedy River) and bring with them to help speed up the check in process.
Volunteers will be assigned to a specific clean-up site led by a Site Leader. A short drive is required from St. Matthew United Methodist Church to some clean-up sites. Directions to sites & parking instructions will be distributed at check in.
What to Wear/Bring:
- Long pants/old sneakers you don't mind getting dirty
- Hats, bug spray, and sunscreen are highly recommended
